Is The Bible The Word of God?

Is The Bible The Word of God?

Is The Bible The Word of God?

YES! The Bible claims to be the Word of God

■               II Timothy 3:16

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God,”

■               II Peter 1:21

“...holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

■           Over 2500 times in the Old Testament and 500 times in the New Testament the Bible claims to be the Word of God

Quote from John Wesley

“The Bible was clearly written either by God, good men, or bad men. Bad men could not have written it, for the Bible is a good book, and fresh waters do not come from a salt fountain; bad men would not have written it, for the Bible strongly condemns sin and sinners, and wicked men would not condemn themselves to hell. Good men could not have written it, and then deliberately said God wrote it: they would no longer be good men; good men would not have written it for the definite purpose of deception, for good men do not deceive. Hence, the only one left who could have written it is God”

If a skeptic honestly examined the Bible. . .

Two English intellectuals, Sir Gilbert West and Lord Littleton, once set out to disprove the Bible. One was to destroy the resurrection of Jesus Christ, therefore, breaking the very foundation of Christianity. The other was to discredit the conversion of the apostle Paul, therefore, devaluating the New Testament since Paul wrote most of its books. After an entire year of extensive study, the men were to meet and put their facts together into a book that would, once and for all, destroy the Bible. But to their amazement, when Sir Gilbert West and Lord Littleton met, they had both become Christians. They were firm believers in the Scriptures because of the facts and evidences they had discovered supporting the Bible.

The Bible Proves Itself To Be The Word of God

How? By External & Internal Evidences

1.   External Evidences

a.   It’s longevity

The most famous among atheists, Voltaire, once claimed that, ‘I, one Frenchman, will destroy what twelve ignorant fisherman began.’ Today, Voltaire is long gone and many people do not even know who he is. Voltaire also said that in one hundred years the Bible would be an outmoded and forgotten book, to be found only in museums. Sometime after the one hundred years were past, Voltaire’s own house was owned and used by the Geneva Bible Society to distribute millions of Bibles throughout all of Europe.

b.   It’s influence on nations, cultures, and people
